I have long brownish/blondish hair that reaches about to my butt. It is all the same length n curly but i straighten it, so i have a LOT of dead n split ends. (i've had this hair cut 4 two yrs now) I'm goin 2 go get my hair cut in about a week but i dont kno wut style 2 get. My mom thinks i should put some layers in it wit some bangs?? I have no idea cuz i still want long hair. O yea n colorin is not an option!

There is nothing more terrible than a head full of dead ends. I would suggest going to talk to your stylist and seeing just how much is dead? It might be a whole lot more than you think and you may need to cut several inches off. Besides if you get all the dead off it could breath new life into your hair.

Layers are good...but you need to take care of your hair.

I would definitely get it cut short enough so if you were planning on keeping the same cut for another long period of time, you would be able to leave it alone without it becoming a mess. My advice would be to cut the shortest at shoulder length, but if that's too short, maybe 2 or 3 inches past your shoulders. Layers and bangs would look great, but bangs may need to be tamed and trimmed more often. Goodluck!

Without knowing what you look like it is hard to say what style would be good for you. All hairsylists have books which you could look through for ideas. Look through magazines, online, etc. to see if something catches your eye.

What you really need to do is decide on how long you want to keep it AFTER you see your stylist and find out how much you NEED to cut off because of all of the dead ends. I would say if you are really nervous about cutting it, go in small steps. Cut 1 inch after you get the dead ends off. Then go from there, and then you can stop when you are starting to feel uncomfortable with it. Don't let your stylist make you do something you don't want to do and will regret. Your hair is like your permanent accessory, you can't change it as quickly as you can change your purse. Make sure when you change it, you really like it.
